Jesus + Marx = True

It is always surprising to me as a capitalist-supporting atheist that conservatives (in the US sense) are Christians. Jesus’ ideology is almost identical to that of Karl Marx. Jesus was an early, but not the first, socialist. Everything he teaches is socialism, and none of it is capitalism. In fact, there is no doubt that Jesus abhors everything about capitalism, and he is quite specific in that rich people will not find salvation and are certainly not welcome into Heaven.

Let’s look in the Bible, shall we?

Let’s start with the Old Testament prophets on which Jesus builds his theology. Prophets like Amos, Micah, Hosea and others. For example

Isaiah 5:8 “Woe to those who join house to house who add field to field until there is room for no one and you are left to live alone in the midst of the land the Lord of hosts has sworn in my hearing surely many houses shall be desolate large and beautiful houses without inhabitant”.

What does this paragraph say (read the context if you wish)? It says that property consolation, buying a house to join it with your own, buying a farm to join it with your own, causes suffering and poverty, and is therefore sinful. Buying properties to rent to others is specifically what Isaiah is covering here. How land consolidation causes poverty, lack of freedom etc.

So, the OT prophets do not like this. What about the New Testament?

Mark 10:  A young man asks Jesus: “good teacher what must I do to inherit eternal life” Jesus replies “you know the Commandments you shall not murder you shall not commit adultery you shall not steal you shall not bear false witness you shall not defraud – honor your father and mother“. The young man then says: “I have kept all these since my youth, Jesus looking at him loved him and said you lack one thing go sell what you own and give the money to the poor and you will have treasure in heaven then come follow me when he heard this he was shocked and went away grieving for he had many possessions

Matthew 6:24, Sermon on the Mount: “no one can serve two masters for a slave will either hate the one and love the other or be devoted to the one and despise the other you cannot serve God and wealth

Acts 4:32now the whole group of those who believed were of one heart and soul and no one claimed PRI private ownership of any possessions but everything they owned was held in common with great power the apostles gave their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus and great grace was upon them all there was not a needy person among them for as many as owned lands or houses sold them and brought the proceeds of what was sold they laid it at the apostles feet and it was distributed to each as any had need

I mean – this is “from each according to their ability, to each according to their need”, the Marxist mantra almost verbatim.

Conclusion

Anyone who claims Christianity and Capitalism can be combined has either never read the Bible, is illiterate, stupid or just a liar. This is one of the many reasons we who are on the right need to reject Christianity completely.
